Highlights

Down the Middle

For the second straight decade, the Packers made just one postseason appearance, this one in 1982, featuring one victory before a second-round exit in the Super Bowl tournament necessitated by the strike-shortened season.

Sandwiched around that were four break-even seasons with 8-8 records, as another Lombardi-era Hall of Famer, Forrest Gregg, didn’t have much better luck as head coach than his predecessor, Bart Starr.

Some prolific offenses piloted by QB Lynn Dickey were undone by struggling defenses, as the Packers played their share of exciting, high-scoring affairs, but by the late ‘80s the franchise was starting over again with yet another new head coach.
