Highlights

Sparse Moments

The Super Bowl championship trophy was named after Vince Lombardi following the iconic coach’s passing, but one would not be showing up in Green Bay for quite some time.

The first post-Lombardi decade produced just one postseason appearance, in 1972, and a brief one at that. The decade welcomed the arrival of stars like John Brockington, Willie Buchanon, Ezra Johnson and James Lofton, but sustained success was not to be had.

An ill-advised trade for quarterback John Hadl set back the franchise and hampered the early efforts of iconic QB turned head coach Bart Starr to build a consistent winner.
