The Packers hold Lions running back Barry Sanders to minus-1 yard rushing in a 16-12 wild-card playoff victory at Lambeau Field.

It was a defensive performance for the ages, as the Hall of Famer Sanders carried the ball 13 times and was stopped behind the line of scrimmage on six of them. He also lost yardage on a pass reception once, and Lions QB Dave Krieg was sacked four times.

Detroit did not find the end zone until early in the fourth quarter, climbing within 13-10, but kicker Chris Jacke’s third field goal of the game plus a fourth-down stop in the red zone clinched the win.

One week later, the Packers lost their second of three straight playoff appearances in Dallas, falling to the Cowboys 35-9 in the divisional round.
