Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy announces a change in structure at the top of the organization, as Brian Gutekunst takes over as general manager for Ted Thompson, and Russ Ball is promoted to executive vice president of football operations, with both of them, along with Head Coach Mike McCarthy, now reporting to Murphy.

Later in the month, McCarthy concluded an overhaul of his coaching staff that features new offensive (Joe Philbin) and defensive (Mike Pettine) coordinators, as well as several new position coaches and new titles and responsibilities for others remaining on staff.

Philbin, the coordinator for the Packers’ record-setting offense of 2011, has returned after an initial nine-year stint in Green Bay, while Pettine takes over for Dom Capers, who had coordinated the Packers’ defense since 2009.
