In a trade with the Seahawks, Ron Wolf acquires running back Ahman Green, who would go on to break both Jim Taylor’s single-season rushing record (in 2003, after 41 years) and career franchise rushing mark.

Green’s 1,883 rushing yards in 2003 shattered Taylor’s longstanding record of 1,474 from 1962. The peak season for Green included him breaking the team’s single-game rushing mark not once but twice, as he ran for 192 yards against the Eagles and then topped it six weeks later with 218 against the Broncos, a game that featured a 98-yard TD run.

Green would go on to post a team-record 33 100-yard rushing games in his Packers career, which spanned eight total seasons. After leaving as a free agent in 2007, Green returned to Green Bay in 2009 and surpassed Taylor’s career franchise record for rushing yards, finishing with 8,322 to Taylor’s 8,207.
