The Packers play their first game, a 53-0 victory over the Menominee North End Athletic Club at Hagemeister Park. They would go on to finish 10-1 that first season against teams representing mostly nearby towns in northeastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Eight home games are played that first season at Hagemeister, an open field with no fence or bleachers. Calhoun and others “passed a hat” at games to collect spare change and help the team cover expenses.
